Wiltshire Skills 4 Success
This Wiltshire Council led programme is addressing employer's concerns regarding young people's lack of preparedness for the world of work and to address attitudinal and cultural barriers that influence employer's perception of young people. The programme is ensuring that Wiltshire's young people gain the basic skills and knowledge necessary to make a successful transition from school into further education, training or employment.
Following approval for funding through the Action for Wiltshire Board, the Wiltshire Skills 4 Success Team began a pilot phase of activities before the main programme which began in April 2013 (finishing 2015).
The programme takes a two pronged approach.

Looking for Role Models
These free inspirational role model visits have so far included children's authors, athletes, artists, entrepreneurs, STEM ambassadors, apprentices, countryside/park rangers and engineers, amongst others.
Through this network we are linking pupils with positive and inspirational role models to boost their confidence, self efficacy and long term employablility. The visit involves an informal and supervised assembly style chat about a particular job/career, overcoming barriers/diversity/life challenges or telling an inspirational/motivational story.
If you would be intrested in this opportunity then please get in touch.
Looking for Mentors from Business
The Wiltshire Skills 4 Success team are looking for inspiring mentors from local businesses or employers to volunteer and share their experiences with Year 11 students and young people up to 24 years old. The aim of the project is to develop aspiration, a desire for achievement and to offer an insight into the world of work by mentoring young people in Wiltshire who may be NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training) or at risk of becoming so.
